the company is playing hardball. >> they can still make a profit without changing what we have. we are not asking for more money. we are asking to keep the same. >> at this point there is no indication when or if negotiations will resume. residents who live in the oak more residents of the oakland hills are pleading with police to do more to stop the violent crimes in their community. the oklahoma association held they emerge the cbc to demand officials hire more police. some members said they are living in constant fear after some in their community were attacked during several home invasions. residents there want o p d to build a substation in the area. they are willing to pay more in property taxes to hire more officers. >> chase says ad were to occur the home invasions by police have to be added to the force. >> more police officers are

president obama returned to washington wednesday after an electric election night in chicago. >> whether i heard your boat or not, i have listened to you. i have learned from you. you have made me a better president. >> minutes earlier republican challenger mitt romney delivered a gracious concession speech. calling for the country to come together. >> at a time like this cannot resist partisan bickering and political posturing. our leaders after reach across the aisle to the people's work. we citizens also have to rise to the occasion.

monoxide leak. >> car monoxide was the factor that may people evacuate overnight. you concede some of the lobby. over the past 30 minutes last night they went to the lobby drop the whole hotel we're talking the embassy suites. they made sure of the carbon monoxide was low enough for them to return. that is exactly what happened. there were probably about 30 minutes sitting there before you started to talk to me they got the tap of the shoulders and that step back into the warm building. people are also leaving this morning. you can see silhouettes or shadows. what is going is they stayed up all night and now have their early morning flight at 80 6:00 a.m. or 5:00 a.m.. they say forget about returning they are heading to s f o. lot of coming and going at the hotel. let us walk over here and sit in talk to the fire chief. >> chief here excuse me he is on a foam he said it would talk to us. chief. he

is on the phone. let me tell you what he told me. this all started with a boiler at the hotel. something from the boiler emitted carbon monoxide or what ever reason it may be an alarm or a trigger. thank you for joining me chief. >> what costa carbon monoxide level to go up and forcing us to you to evacuate people. >> we saw him now functioning boiler aboil with a high level of carbon monoxide in the room. we feel that was the source of it. what we did was isolated by setting the boiler down. since that time the carbon monoxide levels have dropped significantly. >> was there an alarm or other people getting or someone that was it. >> carbon monoxide is a colorless cola as tasteless. it would be a report obnoxiousness people being passed out or something along those lines. we have had no medical problems

here. i do not know if vote was an internal alarm that triggered it or something else cause it to be called in for a public as is. we evacuated and took a cautious that we did because we thought it was common monoxide. i talked about the alarm is the right thing to have in everyone's residents. in fact since 2011 and has been a requirement that a single family home should have a fat--a carbon monoxide detector. by 2013 all multifamily residents will be required to have this. i am thinking the health--the hotel may have had something in place. >> i'm sure there are some people that may be skeptical. who may not be too comfortable in returning. >> carbon monoxide comes

from a gas burning or heat producing applies. we found a boiler in the room that had a high level of concentration. we shut the boiler off. carbon monoxide levels dropped. we ventilated the hotel used a natural ventilation blowing air--hotel. we also have mechanical means of evaluating the insulating the hotel. we have monitoring of equipment where we can sample the air we have sample the air the levels have been dropping. all this event and to the point where they are back down to acceptable levels for exposure. >> that boy is offline out. >> yes correct that boiler has been taken off line. >> let us show you the same again. you see the ambulance there was no need for that it was here for precautionary measures. what happened was they evacuate it a couple of hundred of people they tell them to

we are back for 40 1:00 a.m. is the time. the man who shot gabrielle gifford in the head will be sentenced today he pleaded guilty to 19 counts including the assassination--plan to appear in court. the shooter fired a shot at a public event in tucson arizona. it was at a supermarket a meeting greet with her and her constituents. six people were killed. 13 others including gifford were hurt. the shooter pleaded guilty in august in exchange for avoiding the death penalty. >> the man accused of making

the red on your screen indicate speeds below 25 m.p.h.. better conditions approaching downtown livermore no delays at the 5 86/80 interchange. interstate 580 mostly green on our roadways centers showing speeds above 50 mi. per hour. public transit your good to go no delays for a.c. transit, bart, or a stray number one. >> thank you erica. on to more headlines this morning police are on alert after an attempted kidnapping of a 14 year old girl in daylight in east oakland. it happened tuesday as a child was walking through a neighborhood at a hundred and third avenue at international boulevard. about 430 p m someone grabbed her from behind. >> they tried to drag her towards the vehicle. she believed they were going to put her inside. she struggled and fought with the stranger and was able to break free. she ran home.
